We had a week last week. By the time the weekend finally arrived, it was clear we were going to need a little something special to recover. I settled on Orange Basil Brownies and they fixed us right up!
These basil brownies can right a lot of wrongs. Eila will tell you that even if you have a pretty extensive surgery on the bones in your arm, a surgery that ends up taking over an hour longer than the doctor said it would and has your mother in full blown panic mode in the hospital waiting room, these Orange Basil Brownies will still put a smile on your face.
Adelaide will tell you that even after your first week of preschool, during which you catch some sort of virus leaving you feverish and sad by Saturday, these Orange Basil Brownies still taste awfully good. Esme, who accidentally caught Adelaide's preschool virus, will wholeheartedly concur.
Baby Rory, well he's not going to say a word about these brownies. But his tired mama, who didn't find quite enough hours to sleep in a week filled with hospital visits, multiple trips to the pediatrician, and four kids who needed a lot of extra love, recommends these basil brownies as just the right spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down.
And if that wasn't testimony enough to convince you just how extra special these brownies are, let me tell you about the Basil. Fresh basil in a chocolate, fudgy brownie is so good. It's a turn-that-frown-upside-down delicious combination.
But don't take my word for it . . . try them! Recipe inspired by Chef Brad

Hi Allison,
firstly, so sorry to hear that it's been one of those weeks. Dear God, motherhood keeps us busy, doesn't it? And I've 'only' got 1 to contend with. Wouldn't want it any other way though.
As for the brownies. They look so stunning. I've never even thought about putting basil in brownies so this was certainly food for thought 😉
Wishing you and your children a super week without bumps and scratches.
Take care,
Kimberly

Thank you Kimberly - you are so kind! And you're right too. Motherhood takes everything you've got and more . . . but I wouldn't have it any other way either. Thank you for stopping by here and sharing a bit of good cheer - means a lot to me.

I'm definitely going to give these a try!! I love to bake but have been wanting to bake more sophisticated desserts, and I always think of you for that! Hope you're having a better week and know we think about you and your sweet kids often.

These look divine! I still have an abidance of basil in my garden and am constantly looking for non-pesto ways to use it... Love the idea of using it in a sweet treat!
