It's officially Summer Break 2015 here and we're jumping right in!
In addition to all the camping, hiking, gardening, swimming, and traveling we're doing this summer, we're also joining the Brain Chase Summer Learning Challenge. It's an online summer camp for 2nd grade - 8th grade and it's gearing up to start on June 22.
In the past, we've used workbooks and some online math sites to combat summer brain drain, but Brain Chase is better than anything we've tried before. Not only is it way more fun than a workbook and the kids are a lot more excited to get involved, it's also really flexible with our summer plans. As long we have access to a tablet/laptop and the internet, the girls will be able to complete their challenges every week. And Brain Chase understands how busy summer can get, so we don't have to worry about falling behind because the kids will be allowed to make up any assignments they might miss.
My girls are really excited about this! They are watching the mail for their adventure tools and they've been asking me almost daily when they get to start. I'm tiding them over with the Brain Chase Trailer - they've watched it 20 times now! It looks like way more fun than a workbook! Seriously, go watch it!
Brain Chase is new to us this year, but we're happy to see that it's getting a lot of deserved national attention. The New York Times published a company profile of Brain Chase and the team recently unveiled this new television ad airing around the country. We're looking forward to being a part of all the excitement and adventure!
As a mom, this supplemental summer activity is just what I've been looking for to keep our family engaged in learning over the summer while we relax and play as a family. Rather than trying to manage everyone's workbooks and finding different age appropriate math sites to subscribe to, I'm so pleased to sign my girls up for one comprehensive program that will give them healthy screen time and an educational adventure over the summer. It's only about 5 hours of focused academic work a week so we've got plenty of time for playing.
And though summer is already underway for a lot people, it's not too late to sign up! The adventure doesn't begin until June 22nd so you've still got time to get on board.
Teacher Referral Reward Program
Brain Chase is offering a $15 Staples gift card to teachers for each of their students they refer to Brain Chase. Registrants who hear about Brain Chase from a teacher can simply enter that teacher's name and school name at registration.
The referral rewards can add up to substantial funding for classroom supplies – it's a great opportunity for a class fundraiser through the PTA or other school organizations.
Premium Pricing Package Update
Alongside the regular pricing package ($199 for the first registration, and then $100 for each sibling), Brain Chase has now begun offering their premium pricing package ($249 for the first registration, and then $149 for each sibling).
The premium package includes Brain Chase registration plus a Brain Chase-branded adventure backpack, a Brain Chase t-shirt and Sunstone of Cortés patch. Later in the summer, these items will be available for a la carte purchase
Summer Game Changer
I'm really glad we discovered Brain Chase this year. Though I love having my kids home for the summer and we really do enjoy each other's company, I do feel like summer time is when I struggle the most to keep a balance with screen time. I'm not comfortable with hours of game playing and movie watching, but I also get really tired of saying "no, not right now" all day long in the summer.
Brain Chase is going to be a gamer changer for us this summer. Though it's educational, it's got the adventure aspect, which makes it really fun for the kids. It's healthy screen time that I can feel good about because it's safe and they're learning while they play, and they look forward to it because it's fun and exciting and the possibility of winning the challenge is exhilarating. It's a win for all of us!
If you're looking for a supplemental summer activity for your kids this summer, something flexible, fun, and educational, this mom and my kids give Brain Chase our family stamp of approval.
This post was sponsored by Brain Chase and The Motherhood. All opinions are entirely my own. I received a complimentary registration for the summer learning challenge, but I purchased a second registration at regular price.
